About Hammersmith Books
Hammersmith Books is an independent health book publisher in the UK. We produce books under the Hammersmith Health Books imprint for general readers and health professionals alike, publishing to build a better understanding of health.
Why we started
In 2009, we set out from a simple belief: readers are intelligent custodians of their own health who deserve to question the advice they receive, not simply accept it. We write our books for people who want to think critically about their wellbeing, wherever their information comes from.
Our authors are doctors, researchers, practitioners, and patients themselves — people with real expertise and lived experience who look past received wisdom and ask what the evidence actually shows.
Georgina Bentliff founded Hammersmith Books after identifying a gap for health books that treat readers as critical thinkers rather than passive recipients of advice. Her eye for trending health topics and her commitment to supporting authors have shaped the company ever since. In 2017, Hammersmith Books won Best Publisher at The People’s Book Prize in recognition of that work.
